Christmas 2020 in Brigg is set to be like no other, in many ways, due to the Coronavirus emergency.
However, a traditional fir tree has still been erected for the festive season - with lights to be added to its branches in the next few days.
We believe the Market Place tree has been sourced from Scawby Estates, while Bridge Street-based Earnshaws has again supplied the wooden surround at ground level.
Brigg Town Council has provided the illuminations for decades, and new ones have been purchased this year.
One of the new wall-mounted displays is pictured here - located outside the Yarborough Hunt pub, on Bridge Street.
Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria, is often credited with introducing features of 'modern' Christmas celebrations. Albert Street in Brigg was named in his honour - though not for this reason.
At Brigg Grammar School 50 years ago, pupils were required to sing, in German, the carol O Tannenbaum (O Christmas Tree).
Oh Come All Ye Faithful was also performed - in Latin! - translating as Adeste Fideles. And all verses had to be sung.
French was also taught at BGS but, rather surprisingly, no song in this language made headmaster H. B. Williams' Christmas list.
