Brigg Town Council will be continuing to arrange periodic clean-ups of the River Ancholme, which involve removing litter and other debris.
The current contract has expired and the task will be put out to tender.
Coun Rob Waltham told the authority's latest meeting that local people valued river cleaning - the Ancholme being an asset to the town.
A 'working group' of councillors has been formed to look at future arrangements.
Local clubs and groups may wish to become involved, it has been suggested.
