RETURN OF BRIGG'S 'FIRST LADY' WILL COMPLETE REVAMP PROJECT

The return of Brigg's 'First Lady' is still awaited to complete refurbishment of one of the town's best-known buildings.
Over August bank holiday 2019, the distinctive wooden carving - perched high up on the frontage of the Angel building - lost one of her wings during high winds. The detached limb fell onto the pavement beneath - fortunately without encountering any passers-by.
In March this year, Brigg Blog gave an update, saying: "It has taken some time but the damaged carving has now been taken down to undergo specialist repair."
A recent check with North Lincolnshire Council revealed this is still the case.
An invitation to attend the relaunch of the internally refurbished Angel building, including library and community hub, prompted us to seek an update, although no date was forthcoming for the re-installation.
Having given the inside of the building a new look and re-launched it after many months, the unitary authority still had a couple of external features to complete.
New digital display screens affixed to the rear wall of the building have since gone 'live' - leaving only the return of the carving to  complete the extensive revamp which was delayed by the Coronavirus emergency affecting production of some fittings.
