PUB FOOTBALL TEAM MAKES HOME LEAGUE DEBUT AT BRIGG REC

A new Brigg pub team made its home debut in the Paul Fox Scunthorpe Sunday Football League over the weekend.
Based at the Black Bull on Wrawby Street, it lost 2-1 to Crosby at North Lincolnshire Council's Brigg Recreation Ground on Sunday morning (September 19).
Also in action in Division Three, Barnetby United's Sunday side beate Blyborough 4-3, while Hibaldstow enjoyed a 3-2 win away to Duff Dynamos at Luddington, a village in the north of the Isle of Axholme.
In a Division Four fixture played at Hibaldstow, FC Recoveries drew 3-3 with Brumby.
Sponsored by an estate agent which has an office in Brigg town centre, the Paul Fox Scunthorpe Sunday League is now in its 56th season.
This competition was formed in the mid-1960s by many teams which had been playing friendly fixtures on Sundays for several years. A few new clubs then joined the ranks over the next few seasons. Brigg Servicemen's Club became an early member.
The Black Bull had teams in the Scunthorpe Sunday League and the Barton Regional League, at different times, for many years in the latter decades of the previous millennium.
The Scunthorpe & District Saturday League (still going today) can trace its roots back to the 1920s.
Barnetby United and Briggensians both entered two Saturday teams for the 2021/22 season.
Brigg Blog's thanks go to Barnetby's Lee Fielden for updating us with last weekend's Sunday League scores.
