Needing a win to be eligible of promotion, Broughton's first team cricketers lost yesterday in Lincolnshire County League Division One.
They had home advantage against another of the top sides, Scunthorpe Town 2nds, but the visitors secured an eight-wicket win on the final Saturday of the season.
With leaders Outcasts beating bottom side Hibaldstow yesterday, Broughton have finished third in the table.
They were short of runs yesterday afternoon, being dismissed for 127 (Nick Dobbs top scoring with 28) and Scunthorpe went on to secure 20 points.
Nathan Goodall scored 59 for Hibaldstow at Outcasts in an all-out 160, but the home side won comfortably by eight wickets.
Broughton 2nds have finished at the foot of Division Two. Yesterday they posted a reasonable 186 at Holton-le-Clay 2nds, helped by a century from opener Richard Stone who was eventually stumped for 116. However, Holton topped that with eight wickets and seven overs to spare.
Brigg Town finished their Division Three fixtures in late August and are 10th in the basement section which has 14 teams.
