BRIGG BLOG PREVIEWS FINAL WEEKEND OF THE CRICKET SEASON

The cricket season draws to a close this weekend and it has proved to be unsuccessful in terms of results for all but one side in the area Brigg Blog covers.
Broughton's first teamers are the notable exception and go into their final game of 2021 on Saturday (September 11) with an opportunity to secure one of the promotion places in Lincolnshire County Cricket League Division One.
But third-placed Broughton will need to win their home fixture against second-in-the-table Scunthorpe Town 2nds (1pm start)
It will also help Broughton's cause if bottom side Hibaldstow can beat leaders Outcasts tomorrow at the Hirst Priory ground near Crowle.
Second-from-bottom Broughton 2nds will be hoping to sign off in Division Two with a positive performance when they visit mid-table Holton-le-Clay 2nds. However, even a maximum points haul cannot lift Broughton clear of the relegation zone.
Brigg Town completed their Division Three programme a couple of weeks ago. Although a couple of teams below Town will be in action on the final Saturday, they are not going to climb above Brigg - currently ranked 10th of 14 sides in the basement section and comfortably clear of the re-election zone.
