NEW CHAPTER IN THE HISTORY OF BRIGG LIBRARY

Brigg Library is now gradually reopening as the Angel building's extensive refurbishment continues. The library is operating a reduced service for the time being - initial opening hours being described as very limited. Staff are unable to allow any customers inside for the next two weeks.
However, library users WILL be able to order 'Ready Reads' and collect them from the new entrance off the the Market Place, and return books at the same time.
The opening times for book returns and 'Ready Reads' for the next two weeks are:

  • Monday: 10am-noon and 1pm-3pm.
  • Tuesday: closed.
  • Wednesday: closed.
  • Thursday: 10am-noon and 1pm-3pm.
  • Friday: closed.

From Monday, October 19 the opening hours will increase to 9am-4pm, Monday-Friday, when it is hoped to offer more services including browsing within the library and public computer access.
Senior Brigg Blog followers who were living in the town from the 1960s will remember visiting the library when it was on Princes Street, in the former school (today used by Brigg Beds).

Humberside County Council later created premises on two floors in a building overlooking the Old Courts Road car park (still in commercial use with Simon Huxford's electrical goods business in the former library reference section upstairs). The move to the Angel was instigated by the current North Lincolnshire authority which took over library provision from Humberside when it was abolished.
