CALL FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO BRIGG RAILWAY STATION AREA

Brigg Town Council has received correspondence from The Independent Brigg Line Rail Group about the current state of the Station Road area, which the IBLRG wants to see improved by the North Lincolnshire authority - owner of land near the station.
The call was considered at Brigg Town Council's latest meeting. Coun Rob Waltham, who is the Leader of North Lincolnshire Council as well as being a town representative, said Station Road was 'unadopted' in highway terms. The issues raised had been 'picked up' for consideration.
The IBLRG, which campaigns to increase the use of Brigg's Saturdays-only passenger train service, has taken a range of pictures (some seen above) to support its call for improvements to be made, including tackling Station Road's potholed surface and dealing with fly-tipping.
Clearly, the land near the railway station and its approach road are seen by passengers who use the station, including those arriving by train from Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and other parts of Lincolnshire. It's their first view of Brigg as they leave the platform and head towards the town centre.
Saturday trains - three in each direction, operated by Northern - link Brigg with Sheffield, Gainsborough, Retford, Worksop, Grimsby and Cleethorpes. At Barnetby,  connections can be made to reach other destinations.
