BRIGG TO 'LIVE STREAM' CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON 2020

Brigg people and former residents living all over the world will be able to enjoy watching the Christmas lights switch on later this year, despite the traditional ceremony in the Market Place having been cancelled because of the Coronavirus emergency restrictions.
Town Mayor Coun Sharon Riggall told the Town Council's latest meeting that  the moment the illuminations came on would be relayed to the public by way of a "live stream."
Town Clerk Kerry McGrath, who will be co-ordinating the online footage on social media, confirmed the date - Friday, November 27.
Coun Rob Waltham said Brigg shops needed to be made aware of the amended arrangements. Many of them usually stay open late into the evening following the tea-time switch on so local people can do their Christmas shopping.
Some weeks ago Brigg District Lions confirmed their 2020 festive fair, with indoor and outdoor stalls, had been cancelled due to the Coronavirus emergency. The Christmas illuminations are provided by the Town Council.
The switch on ceremony and festive fair attracts up to 2,000 people to the town centre in normal circumstances, as illustrated by our pictures above. But not in 2020...
The time of the switch on ceremony on November 27 and how to access the ceremony online, will be revealed near the time.
