CUP-TIE TO WATCH IN BRIGG OR TAKE THE TRAIN & SUPPORT THE ZEBRAS AWAY

Brigg Town Football Club will play their third successive away game in the ToolStation Northern Counties East First Division tomorrow (Saturday, October 10). With two league wins and a draw to their credit so far, the unbeaten Zebras visit Armthorpe Welfare, near Doncaster.

Details of the trains Brigg fans can use to watch the game at Armthorpe have been provided by The Independent Brigg Line Rail Group, which campaigns for greater use of our local train service. See the images below for times and details.
An adult return fare from Brigg station is £12.70 and you can buy your ticket from the guard on the train when you board on platform two (over the footbridge).
When leaving the railway station in Doncaster, turn left to go into the new Doncaster interchange.
Bus services 81 and 82, which depart from C platform, will take you right outside the ground. The journey time on the bus is 20-25 minutes.
"The food outlets in the Frenchgate Centre above the Interchange will be open after the match, if fans want something to eat and drink before catching the train back," the IBLG says.

Sixty spectators were at Brigg Town FC's EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns) on Monday evening (October 5) to see The Butchers Arms defeat New Holland Villa 3-1 in the final of the EC Surfacing Scunthorpe & District League's Johnstone Insurance Nursing Cup.

The 2020/21 EC Surfacing Scunthorpe & District Football League finally kicks off tomorrow, having been delayed since early September by Coronavirus emergency restrictions.
Brigg-based Briggensians have a home tie in the Tortank Barton Brotherhood Cup first round and will host Crowle Colts Development (2.30pm).
Barnetby United Reserves open their campaign in Division Two with a visit to New Holland Villa (3pm), while Barnetby's first teamers journey to Market Rasen Town in the Lincs Junior Cup first round (1.30pm KO).
Lee Fielden's Barnetby should be in very confident mood, having recently triumphed in two Scunthorpe League cup finals held over from the Spring.

This should be a landmark year for Brigg Hockey Club, allowing it to celebrate the 100th anniversary in style. Although the Coronavirus emergency has put paid to that, players and officials still hope to mark the milestone in some way at a future date.
Hockey was established in Brigg at some point in 1920. There were men's, ladies' and colts clubs for many years but they have since joined forces, with Saturday home fixtures on the floodlit 'Blue Astro' at Brigg Recreation Ground.
Some friendly games were enjoyed to begin the 2020/21 season, and league games are now underway, with staggered starting times at the Rec.
Teams waiting to play in the next game are NOT allowed pitch-side. They have to wait outside the protective metal fencing until the pitch has been vacated - using a different gate - to ensure that the sidelines are kept clear.
