BRIGG TREE PLANTING TO BE DISCUSSED

Future tree planting will be discussed by Brigg Town Council at its monthly meeting, to be held next week. Councillors will consider the location and type of trees required.
Coun Rob Waltham will give further details during the meeting on Tuesday, October 27. Starting at 7.15pm, this session will be held on the internet using the Zoom facility.
IF it transpires that the council is seeking other locations for tree planting, Brigg Blog suggests consideration might be given to the corner of Bigby Road and Wrawby Road (see picture above). The tree which stood here, on a grass verge, toppled in September 2019 and was chopped off at the stump, which is still evident more than a year later.
Storm Ciara, in February this year, brought down some trees in the town, including one on Birch Avenue (also illustrated above).
Other matters to be considered at Tuesday night's council meeting include bins and bollards in the town centre - a topic raised by Coun Penny Smith; future river cleaning (Coun Waltham); and information boards (Coun Waltham and Coun Jane Kitching).
