BRIGG AVOIDS FURTHER CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS ON PUBS & SHOPS

Brigg and the other communities across North Lincolnshire and West Lindsey avoided having additional Coronavirus emergency restrictions put in place as part of a national government review, whose measures were announced yesterday (Monday, October 12).
Our area has been placed in 'tier' which means that local bars can continue to stay open until 10pm (offering 'table service') and shops can keep serving as long as customers and staff wear masks.
Regulars at Brigg's Yarborough Hunt pub at the weekend welcomed a positive question from staff: "Do you want to book for NEXT Saturday?"
It came at a time when some media outlets were forecasting that many areas of the north might see their pubs closed again as part of the government review, in line with how things were between late March and the start of July.
The layout of the Yarborough hostelry, on Bridge Street, makes it possible for small groups of people to book rooms to themselves in addition to tables in open plan parts of the premises. Staff then put out 'reserved' notices ahead of booked-in-advance visits.
Just a reminder: The classic real ale festival at Wetherspoon's White Horse, on Wrawby Street, continues until Sunday, October 25.
