FAILURE TO WEAR FACE MASKS: LINCOLNSHIRE POLICE AMONG FORCES TO ISSUE FINES

Lincolnshire Police, whose northerly border adjoins Brigg, is one of only three forces across the country to issue Coronavirus emergency fines for not wearing face masks in public as required by the new law, figures show.
Lincolnshire Police - covering an area stretching from Stamford to Bigby High Road and Westrum Lane, Brigg - has issued one £100 fine.
British Transport Police (responsible for trains and railway stations) and the Lancashire Constabulary are the only other forces to impose monetary penalties.
Reboot Digital, which has furnished Brigg Blog with the statistics, submitted Freedom of Information requests to 40 police forces in England on August 19. It says 34 responded while six have yet to do so.
Here are some general Humberside Police 'stats' for our area....
The total number of crimes reported in Brigg during August 2020 was 68 - more than two a day on average.
Figures now released through www.police.uk show 27 crimes happened in or near the town centre, 15 on/near the Springbank estate and 11 on/near Newlands.
September's crime figures for Brigg should be released in the next couple of weeks.
