LIVE MUSIC ON OFFER IN BRIGG TONIGHT

Live music will be on offer at licensed premises in Brigg town centre tonight (Saturday, October 3).
Smudge will be covering popular tunes from the 1960s through to the present day when he appears at the Lord Nelson, in the Market Place.
A new start time has now been announced - 7.30pm instead of 8pm. Some tables may remain, but you are being advised to book them in advance. Call 01652 652127 without delay. Social distancing measures will be in place, as ever, at the Nelson.
This is the second weekend when licensed premises in Brigg are required to close at 10pm to comply with recently-imposed anti-Coronavirus measures introduced by the government.
Brigg Blog was out and about last Saturday night (purely in the line of research!) and what we observed confirmed that some locals are merely going out earlier than they used to.
It was rather nostalgic to take part in 'drinking up time' ahead of 10pm - reminding us of the licensing laws decades ago - and also to be back home before Match of the Day started on the TV.
Pub customers are now required to wear facemasks when entering licensed premises, so don't forget to take one with you. Masks must remain in place until people are directed to a table, and must be put on again if visiting the toilets.
At the Yarborough Hunt, on Bridge Street, CCTV cameras can be used in the back rooms to attract the attention of bar staff when another round is required. Drinks are then brought to the table and payment taken by card or cash.
Forecast wet weather won't help to attract customers to Brigg bars tonight. Hopefully there will be an improvement by tea-time.
