A Brigg Town Council working group has been formed to look at the provision of local bus services, including the No 91 which tours housing estates and takes people into Cary Lane for town centre shopping.
Councillors selected to serve on this group will also consider the recently introduced JustGo dial-a-ride 'on demand' service.
Observations and perhaps recommendations will be presented to a future monthly meeting of the town authority.
The long-established No 91 service, operated by Hornsbys and supported by North Lincolnshire Council, is due for a periodic review early next year.
Coun Rob Waltham told Brigg Town Council's latest meeting that there was local demand for the No 91 service but noted only five or six people per journey.
Coun Penny Smith said it was very valuable, particularly to people living on the outskirts of the town - adding that she was already hearing some complaints about JustGo. However, Coun Nigel Sherwood said numerous people throught JustGo was excellent.
Coun Ann Eardley said the No 91 was used by many residents and valuable to Brigg, with more houses being planned on the edge of the town.
Coun Waltham, who is the Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said no bad feedback had come his way about JustGo, which offered greater passenger capacity.
Brigg Blog has observed No 91 buses operating in the town on many occasions over the years. During icy and snowy weather this service proved to be a lifeline for 'senior' shoppers living on housing estates who avoided having to walk along potentially slippery footpaths.
However, in less severe conditions we've often watched these buses pass by with few people aboard, as was the case very recently when we took the picture (seen above, left) as the No 91 headed down St Helens Road towards Bigby Road.
There will be considerable public interest in the findings of the working group and also in the review of the No. 91 service which is expected in February.
JustGo buses are now available to take local people who have booked journeys to many locations in Brigg and district and beyond - Mondays to Saturdays inclusive. The familiar Lincolnshire-based Call Collect dial-a-ride service continues to bring people from Caistor and West Lindsey villages into Brigg.
Having left the new Aldi store on Bridge Street last Thursday afternoon, Brigg Blog observed a Hornsbys X4 (bound for Scunthorpe) heading along the A18. Immediately behind the X4 was one of the JustGo buses (destination unknown). The provision of public transport is a complex task!
