ANGLING MATCHES LINED UP IN BRIGG

The Coronavirus emergency will not be putting a block on many club and league angling matches in Brigg. And a Christmas Open is planned.
Matches on the famous Springs Stretch of the Old River Ancholme have been organised for the autumn and early winter period.
The Sherpa Club will be using pegs 2-9 only on Saturday, November 21. Then all pegs on the Springs Stretch will be in match use every Saturday and Sunday from November 28 through to December 20 which sees the Christmas Open.
The Winterton Club will be in action on January 2, 2011 - again utilising a range of pegs.
In the fresh air, social distancing poses no difficulties for participants on the bank.
Some decent pike have been caught near the site of the former Springs jam factory (since demolished) over the years.
Pictured here is a handsome specimen being landed in 2014; Brigg Blog happened to be passing by on the towpath at the time. Below is a notice giving full details of forthcoming matches, currently pinned to the wooden landing stage near the Ancholme Way Bridge.
