Mother Nature is set to receive a helping hand from Brigg Town Council.
The authority has discussed providing bat roosting boxes and owl nesting boxes at locations within the town.
A survey has now been suggested to locate areas which suit these creatures.
Coun Jane Kitching told the latest meeting that boxes could be provided for tawny and barn owls.
In good years, some birds could raise two broods, she explained. And it might be possible to install 'live wi-fi feed' cameras to monitor the boxes.
This feed will allow interested people to follow the young birds' progress.
Coun Rob Waltham said the council now needed to figure out suitable locations for the boxes.
"What better project is there to show we care about the environment," he added.
Taking up Coun Kitching's idea to involve local schools in this project, he suggested it might be possible for youngsters to help build the boxes.
We can expect an update on this interesting project at a future Town Council meeting, as things progress.
The wi-fi camera feed, showing hungry young birds eating in one or more of the boxes, would be suited to links on Twitter!
Brigg Blog has observed owls near the River Ancholme and heard others hooting at night elsewhere in the town.
