VERY LATE PENALTY PROVES COSTLY FOR BRIGG TOWN BUT BARNETBY TEAMS ENJOY GOOD WINS


 

Brigg Town Football Club lost 2-1 at Harrogate Railway Athletic yesterday (Saturday, October 30). The Yorkshire side's winning goal came right at the end of the game.
Scott Phillips had given Brigg an early lead but Harrogate levelled before the interval and went on to secure victory from the penalty spot.
Brigg Town, who were top of ToolStation Northern Counties East until quite recently, are now fourth behind Rossington Main, North Ferriby and Hallam, but the Zebras have a game or two in hand on their promotion-chasing rivals apart from Ferriby.
Brigg Town Development were beaten 2-1 by Lincoln United Development at the EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns) yesterday. This was a Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League Premier encounter.
In the EC Surfacing Scunthorpe & District League, Barnetby United enjoyed a 6-1 home success against Baltic Boy's in Johnsons Transport Hospital Cup Group B. Barnetby's scorers were Danny Greaves (2), Ryan Jordan (2) and Joe Stothard, and there was also an own goal.
Barnetby United Reserves won 4-1 at Crosby Colts in Tortank Barton Brotherhood Cup Group A. Greg Brackenbury netted twice, with Shaun Clark and Liam Davies also on the mark.
Brigg-based Briggensians and Briggensians Reserves were not in league action yesterday.
