REPLACEMENT WORK IN BRIGG 'WILL ENHANCE THE APPEARANCE'

Investment can go ahead in a number of properties within Brigg town centre - some being within the Conservation Area.
North Lincolnshire Council has now granted planning permission for the replacement of 14 first floor windows with timber windows at 15-21 Old Courts Road and 5-11 Chapel Court, close to the town's main car park.
John Rowbottom, of G W Rowbottom & Sons Ltd, made the successful application.
A North Lincolnshire Council assessment report concluded: "While top hung sashes are not preferred, on a balance of assessment the replacement windows are judged acceptable since they would enhance the appearance of the buildings and the conservation area when compared to the existing windows, and it will fit in well with the buildings adjacent to the site from Old Courts Car Park, which has a mix of different styles."
The authority's conservation officer raised no objections; the replacement windows would be made from timber and have a traditional appearance "that is suitable for the Brigg Conservation Area."
Brigg Town Council also raised no objections to this application.
The Chapel Court development, providing shops and offices, was officially opened 30 years ago - on August 14, 1991.
