BANNER HEADLINE: FOOTBALL FANS FROM BRIGG SEEN ON BBC TV

Brigg's name featured several times on national TV at the weekend. The BBC made Bromsgrove v Grimsby Town its featured tie from the FA Cup fourth qualifying round (coverage being accessed via 'the red button' on viewers' handsets).
Several crowd shots showed a large 'Brigg Mariners' banner being displayed by some travelling fans in one of the stands. Who were they?
Grimsby won 5-0 to make it through to the first round involving teams from the lowest two divisions of the Football League, as well as non-league sides.
Grimsby were relegated at the end of last season but are making a determined bid to return to the Football League at the first attempt.
It's rare for Grimsby to inspire a 'banner headline' for Brigg Blog!
There was a Brigg Branch of the Grimsby Town Supporters' Club which ran buses to all home games at Blundell Park from the 1950s through to the early 1980s.
Many people living locally today take an interest in how the Mariners are doing.
Brigg Town FC's next game in the push for promotion will be tomorrow (Tuesday, October 19). The Zebras are visiting Selby, in Yorkshire, to play FC Humber United (KO 7.45pm). Brigg, who did not have a match over the weekend, are top of ToolStation Northern Counties East Division One, while FC Humber United are second from bottom.
