NEW CCTV IN BRIGG WILL HELP COMBAT CRIME

Brigg Town Council is to fund the introduction of a new CCTV camera for the Donkey Park play area near Atherton Way and Almond Grove.
Approval was given during the authority's latest meeting, held in the Buttercross.
There have been complaints about anti-social behaviour and vandalism at the park which is equipped with a range of play equipment for young children. The facility is managed by North Lincolnshire Council.
Coun Rob Waltham told the town authority's meeting on Monday evening (September 28) that he had met with Coun Ann Eardley to discuss CCTV for this part of Brigg.
He said a very suitable location had been identified for the camera which, in addition to monitoring the park, would also be able to survey as far as the A18 roundabout.
Once installed, this will become the fifth camera in Brigg for which the town council is responsible.
CCTV cameras can record footage of offences being committed, and their presence may also deter would-be offenders.
North Lincolnshire Council also provides cameras, and there is a central control centre for CCTV across the district.
