Senior Brigg Blog followers may well remember the town branch of national company Currys selling electrical goods and cycles from the premises later used by Ladbrokes.
Pictured at the top of this post, alongside a view of the premises taken on Thursday this week, is one of Currys shop in the early 1970s.
It was taken by Ken Fisher a few years before the demolition of the archway which had led through to Spring's preserves factory, a major local employer. The brickwork was damaged beyond repair.
Below we see an interesting Currys advert from the 1950s when radios were still a major source of news and entertainment for many Brigg families which had yet to buy their first black & white TV sets.
The Currys "back a winner every time" slogan was an interesting choice, as Ladbrokes later went on to trade from these premises!
