A blue police box of the type made famous by TV series Doctor Who has been sighted in Brigg.
This picture was taken a few days ago on Bigby Street near the Post Office sorting and parcels depot, looking towards the Hewson House office complex.
The frontage of this police-style box is on the side of a vehicle.
When Doctor Who made his debut on BBC TV in the early 1960s, the small entry door to his London police box gave access to the cavernous ultra-tech Tardis which took the Time Lord across the galaxy, going backwards and forward in time.
Pupils at Glebe Road School, Brigg, took to the playground shouting 'Exterminate! Exterminate!' when the Doctor's arch-enemies, The Daleks, began appearing in early episodes six decades ago.
Younger Brigg Blog followers might be surprised to learn that blue police boxes (containing telephones linked to local 'cop' shops') were cutting edge technology in their day, allowing on-the-beat constables to pass on urgent information gained on the streets and to receive instructions from base.
Prior to that, and since the early 19th century, police on patrol who spotted something pressing had to blow their whistles loudly to attract attention, hoping that fellow officers would hear the noise and rush to the scene.
