A public consultation roadshow session in Brigg will give local people the chance to state their views about the proposed future growth and development of the district over the next 17 years, including where new housing should be built.
A detailed blueprint document, the North Lincolnshire Local Plan, has now reached its fourth and final preparatory stage, known as The Publication Draft.
Our local unitary authority says this is "the last opportunity to have your say on how North Lincolnshire grows from now to 2038."
Brigg's public session will take place on Tuesday, November 9 in the Angel Suite, off Exchange Place, from 2.45pm to 7.15pm. Make a note of the date and times, and consider calling in, if you can.
It will allow people "to see the Plan and speak to officers that have worked on it."
The council says: "Give us your views about the future growth and development of the area, as well as the issues the Plan should cover."
The authority will submit the Local Plan to the Government for approval following the end of the consultation period in late November, having considered "feedback and any amendments that are required."
A planning inspector will then be appointed to consider the contents, on behalf of the relevant Secretary of State.
A number of other roadshows are to be held across North Lincolnshire throughout November, though Broughton is not listed. Kirton Lindsey's will be in the Town Hall (date yet to be confirmed).
This Local Plan has been in the planning stage since 2017, when stage one was completed.
The council explains that the latest plan - replacing one drawn up in 2003 - will...
- Provide the strategy for the use of land and buildings up to 2038.
- Set out where future homes, employment areas and services such as shops and community facilities should be located.
- Set out how the historic and natural environments should be conserved and enhanced.
- Guide decisions on planning applications.
Brigg Blog anticipates that most people visiting the local roadshow in the Angel on November 9 will want to know about the sites identified for major housing development and also for future industrial/commercial development.
