BRIGG BLOG'S WEEKEND SPORTS PREVIEW: FOOTBALL & HOCKEY HOME GAMES COMING UP


Promotion-chasing Brigg Town Football Club is without a first team league fixture this Saturday (October 2) but there is a home game ahead for Briggensians FC. Several hockey matches involving local club sides are also coming up at Brigg Recreation Ground, off Wrawby Road.
On Tuesday evening (September 28) Brigg Town FC consolidated its lead in ToolStation Northern Counties East Division One with a 4-2 away win at Rossington Main. On the mark for the Zebras were Alfie Usher, Jack Richardson, Martin Pembleton and Scott Phillips. Brigg are currently three points ahead of second-placed Hallam after 12 league games.
Briggensians and Barnetby United have ties in the Lincolnshire Junior Cup second round this Saturday, kicking off at 1.30pm.
The Brigg side will be hosting Thurlby Tigers, while Barnetby's first teamers head west to take on Epworth Town Colts.
In Division Two of the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District League, Barnetby United Reserves entertain Beckwood Rovers at the village's Silver Street venue tomorrow (3pm).
Brigg Town FC's Development XI is without a game in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League Premier this Saturday.
Brigg Hockey Club has some men's and ladies' fixtures at the Rec tomorrow on the all-weather pitch, starting in succession between 11am and 3.30pm. The men's first team is due to play Yorkshire side Ben Rhydding in a league game from 2pm.
Sunday (October 3) will see a home tie for Broughton WMC in the Lincolnshire FA Sunday Cup first round against Grimsby side West Marsh United (11am KO).
In Division Three of the Paul Fox Scunthorpe Sunday Football League, Brigg's Black Bull will visit Duffs Dynamos.
