EXCHANGE TAVERN IN BRIGG - UPDATE FROM THE OWNER

Brigg Blog has been asked by local businessman Joe Mullen to give an online update about the new Exchange Tavern now nearing completion in the town centre.
Signage just added to the frontage on Wrawby Street has prompted many social media comments in recent days, and owner Joe has also received personal inquiries from local people who are keen to know about the project. Passing shoppers have been stopping to take a look.
Joe has confirmed that the following will be provided:

  • Cocktail bar
  • Saloon bar
  • Coffee shop
  • Carvery
  • Bed & breakfast rooms (en suite)
  • Rear beer garden
  • Real ales and fine wines.

He told Brigg Blog yesterday (Friday, October 29): "The Exchange Tavern is not yet finished, but it's nearing completion. There will be a further update from me before Christmas, and this will be done through Brigg Blog."
Joe showed us inside the new facility yesterday afternoon. But as the project has yet to be completed and work still continues, he has requested that we hold off taking pictures inside the Tavern until it is ready to open to customers.
Until then, coverings close to the front windows will remain in place.
Understandably, Joe only wants the public to see the end product of his efforts over many months.
What we can say is: the Exchange Tavern's rooms are very impressive and are being furnished and equipped to a very high standard.
Joe also owns the adjoining grade two* (star) Exchange Coach House Inn; dating back to the 1760s, it is the only building in Brigg with this heritage status.
We've been interviewing him for in-print, and latterly web, articles since the 1980s... with more still to come.
