MAIN BIN COLLECTION IN BRIGG TODAY 'COULD BE SLOWER' DUE TO SNOW

Brigg is due a major bin collection today (Tuesday, February 9) from North Lincolnshire Council, with more snow on the way the forecasters warn.
So let's spare a thought for the crews emptying wheelie bins and recycling boxes containing paper and also glass bottles and cans. Their job is never easy, but snow and ice must make the task much more difficult.
A spokesman for the local authority tells us: "Collections of bins and boxes could be slower than usual due to the snow and road conditions. The worst case scenario is that some roads could be unreachable, in which case those collections will take place at a later date – though we are hopeful that this won't be the case.
"If your bin isn't collected then please bear with us – the collection teams are working hard to get to everyone's bins safely and efficiently."

We've asked the council to keep us informed about services, in view of the wintry weather. If updates are forthcoming, we'll add to this post later today.
Brigg Blog took the Hornsbys No 4 bus from Cary Lane to Scunthorpe. This bus departed on time at 8.30am, as did the late morning one which brought us back from the steel town.
Having operated locally for well over 100 years, this Ashby-based firm is well used to deep mid-winters. But the drivers' efforts are appreciated by people in Brigg who rely on public transport.
Early yesterday, council workers were clearing snow from paths in Brigg town centre.
