BRIGG CLUB CLOSES AFTER 50 YEARS

A Brigg club has announced its closure after giving half a century's service to the community.
A statement explaining the reasons has been issued on behalf of the Brigg & District Gateway Club. This has been done by the committee to inform local people.

STATEMENT - JANUARY 31, 2021

The above club has been closed since March 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
It was based at the Brigg Community Wellbeing Hub which has also closed its doors, although we were offered an alternative venue at The Angel at Brigg.
Over the last few years the opportunities now available to people with learning disabilities has increased dramatically, so the club is not as important in their lives as it used to be.
Taking the above into account, coupled with the age and health of our volunteer helpers, the Committee has reluctantly decided that the closure will be permanent, as it is felt that in future we would not be able to run the club in the safe manner to which we have been accustomed.
We feel the club has been of service to the community and would like to thank everyone in Brigg and the surrounding area that has supported us in any way over the last 50 years.
