SIX TONNES OF MATERIAL REMOVED DURING BRIGG TIDY UP

Woodbine Park in Brigg after six tonnes of material had been removed from paths in March 2022

Welcome improvements have been undertaken in Brigg with tonnes of material removed.
North Lincolnshire Council's Parks and Green Spaces team has been working on Woodbine Park, on the edge of the Springbank estate near South View Avenue.
The authority tells use that 'green encroachment' onto the pavements was extreme. So this area was targeted, and a team of workers cleared more than SIX TONNES of material "in re-establishing the edges."
Brigg Blog visited this park recently and observed the team busy clearing overgrown paths adjoining the fenced off area which is to be transformed to provide new allotment plots.
The council's team also visited the Old River Ancholme to remove some "growth" from a wall near the County Bridge.
A tidy up on, and near, the grade two listed structure (built in 1828) was indicated by Coun Rob Waltham, the Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, during the recent Brigg Town Annual Public Meeting, held in the Buttercross. Further work on the bridge is to be undertaken.
Brigg Town Council's latest monthly meeting in the Angel was informed that more local public seating is to be provided.
We gather the Government is making allocations to many local authorities across the UK, including North Lincolnshire.
Brigg may receive up to seven benches, with suitable 'concrete pads' being put in as bases.
Coun Waltham mentioned the riverside, near the B&M store, as a suitable location.
"So people can sit and have their fish and chips!" he suggested to fellow councillors.
