NEWEST SCHOOL IN BRIGG TO STAGE OPEN DAY

The newest school in Brigg is now established, proving popular and is about to host a 'drop in' open day - offering local people the chance to see what is available and being achieved.
The Robert Holme Academy (RHA) has strong links with the town's past, being named in honour of Dr Robert Holme, who was a very popular local medic and councillor decades ago.
Known locally as Doc Holme, his former Fircroft bungalow at 3 Wrawby Road, adjoining the former Glanford Hospital (now health offices), has been renovated and converted to provide a base for the new school at DN20 8DL.
The ornate fireplaces have been retained, Brigg Blog noted after being invited along to view the premises.
The academy is a specialist alternative provision for children aged five to 11 - "providing care and support for students who are struggling in mainstream education" across northern Lincolnshire and also from the North Bank.
It will be holding the open day on Wednesday, April 20, from 10am to 4pm.
The RHA can take up to 18 students at a time. There is a high ratio of teachers to students, and free 'healthy eating' meals are provided - the building having a fully-fitted kitchen.
There is high demand for places, and Brigg Blog can confirm what we've been told; the building is Tardis-like.
Being a bungalow helps ensure there is full disabled access.
The former front garden has been adapted so vehicles dropping off students enter through one gate off the A18 and then leave through another.
This ensures there are no 'backing up' issues on busy Wrawby Road.
The RHA will also be offering specialist career development courses for local teachers, including 3D printing and computer aided design (CAD).
These need to be booked in advance by emailing info@robertholmeacademy.co.uk
In view of the new school's location and name, we suggest it offers A Home From Holme for its students!
