NEW USE OUTLINED FOR FORMER BRIGG TOWN HALL

Built half-a-century ago to serve as a Town Hall for Brigg, these detached premises now have a new purpose earmarked after being vacant for some months.
Brigg Urban District Council constructed the two-storey building on Cary Lane just a few years before being abolished in 1974 as part of nationwide changes made to the structure of local government.
A Town Hall was required because Brigg UDC, despite only employing a small staff, had outgrown the space available at the Buttercross, in the Market Place.
Ownership of the office block passed to the new Glanford Borough Council when it was created 48 years ago, and then to North Lincolnshire Council when this unitary authority was introduced in 1996.
Humberside Police then leased the building for four years until 2021, since when it is understood to have been empty.
However, North Lincolnshire Council recently announced plans to use the premises again, as and when required.
This is allied to a project to close the Hewson House office block, on Station Road, and redeploy employees to other locations.
There are plans to create housing for the over-55s off Station Road.
