SHARP-SHOOTER BREN HAS BARNETBY RECORD IN HIS SIGHTS

Barnetby United Football Club striker Brendan O'Callaghan in action for the Railwaymen

Games were played at Brigg Recreation Ground and Barnetby's Silver Street venue in the EC Surfacing Scunthorpe & District Football League yesterday (Saturday, April 2).
At the latter venue, Barnetby United drew 1-1 with Limestone Rangers in a Division One fixture (details below from Lee Fielden).
Briggensians Reserves were beaten 3-1 by Appleby Frodingham Reserves at Brigg Rec in Division Three - our local side's goalscorer being Callum Gilbert.
Barnetby United Reserves were unable to field a team for their Division Two visit to Beckwood Rovers.

BARNETBY v LIMESTONE

A lacklustre first half saw Barnetby trial 1-0 at the break, but they turned in a far better second half display and equalised after 65 minutes when Brendan O’Callaghan scored his 42nd goal of the season, writes Lee Fielden.
He is now seven goals away from equalling the club's all-time goalscoring record.
49 goals: Graham Day, 1970-71, Grimsby League Div 2.
48 goals: Byron Austwick, 1960-61, Grimsby League Division 2.
44 goals: Jonny Clayton and Andy Chapman, Scunthorpe League Division 5, 1987-88 (in the same season!)
42 goals: Brendan O’Callaghan, 2021-22, Scunthorpe and District 1st Division.
