QUICK BRIGG U-TURN ON BIN COLLECTIONS

Brigg Blog has done a quick U-turn over publicising bin collection alterations.
We received some comments suggesting there was no longer a need for us to post about revised Monday emptying (instead of Tuesday) in the run up to bank  holidays because local households were well aware of this 'brought forward one day' switch.
So we changed policy for the recent Easter holiday and did NOT issue a reminder.
However, when this bank holiday arrived it soon became clear - from our observations of bins not put out on the streets for collection and email in-box messaging - that some householders were unaware of the switch from Tuesday to Monday, or had forgotten about it.
For this reason, Brigg Blog has decided to resume posting reminders ahead of future bank holidays - a practice we had employed over many years until Easter 2022.
We also decided to contact North Lincolnshire Council, well in advance, to check out what will be happening to bin/recycling box collections over the early June bank holidays marking the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
A spokesperson for the authority replied to say re-arrangements are already in place for this "extended weekend."
Brigg households which normally receive a Tuesday collection should take note there will be a collection on MONDAY, MAY 30 - "pulled forward" from the following day (31st).
Normal collections resume early the following week, so Brigg households WILL receive a collection from crews on TUESDAY, JUNE 7.
The council says the run up to bank holidays can take people by surprise in respect of bin collection arrangements.
The authority will be pushing out communications to the public... as will Brigg Blog following our rapid U-turn in policy.
Unusually. and because of Her Majesty's 70th anniversary celebrations, there will be bank holidays in the UK on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3.
Jubilee events will then continue on Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5.
