BRIGG RECEIVES 10 'SILENT SILHOUETTES' AHEAD OF REMEMBRANCE DAY 2018

Two seats at Brigg Town Council's latest meeting were not occupied by councillors but by distinctive and transparent 'Silent Silhouettes' of soldiers.
The council has been awarded 10 of them, funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
Town Clerk Dinah Lilley told Brigg Blog: "They were acquired primarily to be part of the Remembrance Day Services, but should hopefully also be seen in various places around Brigg prior to 11 November.
"Using the poignant words ‘There, But Not There’ the Silhouettes are intended to help people remember all those members of the Forces who did not return from conflict.
"The award was made under the Armistice and Armed Forces Communities programme, which makes awards to bring communities together to remember; and to think about the Armed Forces today."
The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust makes awards and grants to projects that support the Armed Forces Community. You can find out more about their work at www.covenantfund.org.uk
During Brigg Town Council's latest meeting in the Angel Suite, councillors were invited to suggest suitable locations for the Silhouettes, with local schools being put forward for consideration.
Monday's Town Council meeting also received a request from a Brigg resident for a distinctive black ribbon to be draped on The Monument  - a grade two listed structure - during November.
The council granted a request from Brigg Rotary Club to plant crocus bulbs at the war memorial on  October 24,  World Polio Day.
