BRIGG FOLK TO ENJOY A DAY AT THE RACES THIS WEEKEND

Many people from Brigg and district enjoy a day at the races by visiting the Market Rasen course, and there's a meeting coming up on Saturday, October 20, 2018.

Others will be staying in town but placing bets on the races with local bookies.

FROM MARKET RASEN RACECOURSE

Saturday  is the second part of the Lincolnshire track’s ‘Autumn Double’, which is sponsored by Elixir Bathrooms of Lincoln. A total prize fund of over £100,000 is on offer for the second time in three weeks following the success of last month’s Ferry Ales Brewery Prelude Day.
The top contest is the £50,000 Elixir Bathrooms Prelude Handicap Chase, won in 2017 by the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Ballybolley, one of 13 entries for this weekend.

He could be opposed by two other horses who have won at Market Rasen this year – Call To Order and Royal Village.
There will be plenty of entertainment both on and off the track, with visitors – men and women - encouraged to look out their finest winter outfit and enjoy a day at the races.
The afternoon offers fantastic entertainment and activities, including:

  • Style Awards, sponsored by Oldrids & Downtown, in the fashion marquee on the Brocklesby Lawn;
  • Live music throughout the afternoon from 1940s music duo George & Ginger;
  • Christmas shops with a fabulous array of gifts;
  • Gin Festival.
Racing starts on Saturday, 20th October, at 1.40pm, with gates open two hours before. Admission starts from £10.80 in advance, with accompanied children aged under 18 admitted free of charge. On-the-day prices are £12 (Lawn Enclosure), £20 (Tattersalls) and £25 (County Enclosure).
More details can be found out about meetings at Market Rasen Racecourse and tickets bought at www.marketrasenraces.co.uk
