AWARD-WINNING BRIGG RESTAURANT REMEMBERED

An award-winning Brigg town centre restaurant was getting ready to open its doors to the first customers 10 years ago.
Fitting out was taking place in October 2008 - ahead of the opening date, November 7.
A licensing application permitting alcoholic drinks to be served to diners was submitted to the authorities.
Coleman's Restaurant was on Queen Street and occupied the former premises of the CeeCee's eatery.
Under the headline Welcome New Venture, Brigg Blog reported in October 2008: "Coleman's is to offer a selection of free trade coffees and teas, plus home-made pastries and sandwiches; then additional British dishes in the evening. Brigg Town Council this week raised no objections to the licence application being made for these premises."
Coleman's, which had a coffee lounge area (pictured above), served local diners for three years, winning a Lincolnshire Restaurant of the Year Award.
But in 2012, Brigg Blog said: "The vacant restaurant premises in Queen Street,  - formerly Coleman’s -  are on offer to another entrepreneur looking to establish an eatery in the town centre, or perhaps convert the premises to other use, with the necessary planning permission. The award-winning Coleman's closed late last year."
In February 2015 we reported that NFU Mutual and Co-operative Funeral Care had just taken space in the former restaurant building within the Conservation Area.
