BRIGG STREET LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS NEARING COMPLETION

Street lighting improvements in Brigg are nearing completion, town councillors were informed at their latest meeting.
Details were given in a report from the Brigg & Wolds Ward representatives on North Lincolnshire Council - Coun Ron Waltham and Couns Carl and Nigel Sherwood.
Coun Carl introduced the update to town councillors at the Angel Suite.
"Out of a total of 812 lighting units in Brigg, there have been 739 that have been converted to LED," the report revealed.
Other topics covered by the update included:
HOME SAFETY: North Lincolnshire Council has allocated £100,000 to deliver the Safe and Sound Home Assistance Scheme to help older residents feel safer at home. Those aged 70 or over, who own their own home, can apply for a grant for home improvements to be made to increase security, including window locks, window alarms and additional door locks. The council's Handyman Service will carry out the minor adaptions. For more information, call 01724 297000.
POTHOLES: The council continued to deal with them in Brigg. Members of the public can report potholes and other highway issues through the Self-Servive Portal at www.northlincs.gov.uk
POST 16 STUDENT TRAVEL PASSES: The Brigg & Wolds Ward councillors say they are pleased to confirm that these passes have been "protected again at £30." Registrations can be made at www.northlincs.gov.uk
FREE BUS PASSES FOR OLDER AND DISABLED RESIDENTS: These have also been "protected" in North Lincolnshire. To access the pass, call 01724 297460 or CLICK HERE to access the relevant area on the council's website.
