COMMUNITY GROUPS IN BRIGG AREA CAN APPLY FOR GRANTS FROM £170k FUND

Community groups based in Brigg and district can apply for grants from a fund with up to £170,000 in the pot.

FROM CHRIS O'ROURKE, NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL

Community groups across North Lincolnshire are being urged to share their big idea and take advantage of the 2018/19 SSE North Lincolnshire Sustainable Development Fund.
Created as part of the £8.5m community benefit programme from SSE’s Keadby Wind Farm, the fund is available to non-profit making organisations, community groups and charities from across North Lincolnshire.

Up to £170,000 in grants will be available in 2018/19.
Successful projects must demonstrate the potential for transformational change and meet one of three priority areas:
Creating opportunities: Create or enhance opportunities for education and employment through activities that develop skills and improve an individual’s chance of entering the workplace.
Empowering communities: Empower communities to become more resilient and protect vulnerable residents through measures which demonstrate long-term social, environmental or economic improvements.
Sustainable places: Stimulate meaningful regeneration to improve or enhance local infrastructure, landscape, biodiversity or heritage and make a lasting difference to the places we live, work and visit.
Applications are invited for the 2018/19 fund of between £10,000 and £30,000.

The fund will close for applications on 30 November 2018 for this round of funding.
Cllr John Briggs, chair of the North Lincolnshire Sustainable Fund Panel and Mayor of North Lincolnshire, said: “I’m looking forward to seeing the fantastic ideas that the people of North Lincolnshire have for this latest round of funding through the SSE Sustainable Development Fund.
“This is the perfect opportunity to get your community project or local scheme off the ground to make a real difference where you live, so apply now and let us hear it!”
During the 25 years of funding The SSE - North Lincolnshire Sustainable Development Fund will provide over £4.25m in community benefit across the region. This is in addition to the SSE - Local Keadby Wind Farm Community fund, which will have provided an additional £4.25m of community funding in the Axholme North ward.

Both funds are administered by North Lincolnshire Council on behalf of SSE.
