BRIGG CLUB LIFE IN THE 1970s HAD MUCH TO OFFER

It's always interesting to look back and recall how Brigg bars used to be years ago.
Brigg & District Servicemen's Club, on Coney Court, issued its report and statement of accounts to members for the year ending December 31, 1976.
The Christmas drinks concession was worth £750 to members as the club entered into the festive spirit.
Running outings for members cost  £536, and games and parties a further £434.
Gifts for pensioner members totalled £211.
But billiard receipts went down to £65 from £116 the previous year - perhaps reflecting changing times.
The club's fixed assets included an organ valued at £340.
The statement of accounts for 1976 also showed the attendance record of all committee members.
Among them were some well-known figures, including Brian Parker, Tom Glenright, Trev Thompson and Ronald 'Geordie' Fox.
Norman Leaning was the popular club secretary.
