FOOTBALL MATCH POSTPONED DUE TO VANDALISM PROVES MAJOR BRIGG AREA TALKING POINT

There were away defeats for Briggensians and Barnetby United yesterday (Saturday, October 27) but a major talking point in the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League related to a match in the Brigg area that didn't take place.
A spokesman for the league said the Division Two fixture between Hibaldstow Wanderers and New Holland Villa had to be postponed after vandalism of the pitch on Friday night resulted in broken "all over the pitch" at the village sportground.
Barnetby United’s Carousel Hospital Cup hoodoo continued as they saw a two-goal lead evaporate in the last 30 minutes to lose 4-2 at College Wanderers in the quarter-finals. View our illustrated match report here.
In another Hospital Cup quarter-final, goals from Harry Storr and Jacob Sweeting got Scotter United back to winning ways as they beat Briggensians 2-0.
In a Tortank Barton Brotherhood Cup quarter-final a Kyle Sylvester brace and further goals from Dominic McGuire, Liam Dawson, Ben Clark, Jaroslav Judiny and Dawid Kotwica gave Barnetby United Reserves a 7-1 victory over Scotter United Reserves, for whom Jordan Dulson scored.
