BRIGG LINE SEEING MORE TRAINS BUT THEY AREN'T STOPPING

People living near the railway line in Brigg are seeing additional trains passing by, with more to come.
No, there hasn't been a change of heart resulting in extra units being laid on to call at the town's station.
The additional traffic is due to various factors.
Some passenger units have been traversing the Brigg line for driver training purposes, or on  "empty coaching stock" workings (see picture above taken yesterday - Sunday).
We also understand that during engineering work on  Scunthorpe's busy line, a number of freight trains are being diverted through Brigg and will be in the near future.
The Brigg line normally has a Saturdays-only passenger  service - three trains in each direction between Sheffield and Cleethorpes, unless, of course, there is industrial action!

There are also freight trains on various days of the week.
Brigg Blog, and others, hope that one day it may become possible once again to catch passenger trains at our station on weekdays - something that has not been possible for 25 years. We could then connect at Retford for services to London or to York and other northerly destinations.
