WILL BRIGG HORSE FAIR 2022 BE MENTIONED IN EVENT LISTINGS?

Brigg Horse Fair day - August 5 - falls on a Friday in 2022.
Over many years this event, centred on land near the railway station and staged from 9.30am through to the afternoon, has failed to be mentioned in events listings. From what we've seen, it may well be the same in 2022.
Brigg Horse Fair is held on August 5 - its historic date - unless this happens to be a Sunday, when it is brought forward.
Local residents get a reminder that horse fair day is drawing near when members of the traveller community start arriving in the town - parking their caravans close to the site.
Horse-drawn traps being paraded along streets in and near the town centre in the days leading up to the fair also gives an indication to those living in Brigg but not, of course, those resident elsewhere.
'Trotting' the horses also forms part of the fair when trading takes place, supported by various stands and stalls.
Sadly, there is not, as yet, one central database available which is devoted to listing all Brigg events in one place... and nothing but Brigg events.
This, we suggest, is something that would benefit the town by attracting more visitors, particularly from other areas.
Greater footfall, potentially means more trade for local businesses and increased income for the local economy.
This is not meant as a criticism of groups and volunteers who put in a great deal of hard work to organise events.
Most use social media to promote them on their own pages on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and dedicated websites.
But you have to know the names of such groups to search through a mass of material online and check if something is coming up.
Therefore, making all Brigg events available online, in one spot, would surely be a step forward.
