Local people were there to see Brigg launch its morning and afternoon celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee yesterday (Thursday, June 2, 2022).
A Jubilee Flower Festival Fit For A Queen opened at 9.30am in St John's Church, with local organisations providing displays which will remain on show until Sunday. Visitors are being asked to vote for what they consider to be the best arrangement. A couple of the displays are pictured below.
Early afternoon saw Town Crier Chris Darlington address the public from the balcony high above the Market Place.
A Freeman of Brigg, Chris read the royal proclamation, then led those gathered below in a chorus of God Save The Queen, followed by three cheers for Her Majesty.
He then returned to ground level - still in his colourful robes - and progressed through the town centre with Town Mayor Coun Brian Parker and Town Clerk Kerry McGrath, meeting local people.
As Chris was carrying out his official duties in the Market Place from 2pm, a free music concert was under way at the Black Bull, on Wrawby Street.
Glorious sunny weather greeted singer Jade Wright as she performed a Back to the 1960s gig in the rear beer garden with its palm trees and Spanish-style cabanas (shelters).
This show soon attracted a large attendance and more people were arriving when we left after taking the pictures seen here.
