BRIGG BLOG'S SATURDAY CRICKET ROUND UP

Brigg Town cricketers were without a fixture yesterday in Lincolnshire County League Division Three West, but Broughton 2nds beat Messingham 2nds by a very wide margin in this section of the competition.

Messingham were dismissed for only 85 as Jack Johnstone took three wickets at a cost of only 16 runs. Broughton's opening pair then knocked off the runs required on their own to secure a 10-wicket success - Steve Johnstone finishing 61 not out.

The Broughton first teamers lost to Scunthorpe side Appleby-Frodingham 2nds in a Division One fixture.

Frod posted a decent 212 for seven despite Broughton's Sean Clixby taking three for 40. But his side then came up short with the bat, being dismissed for 181 (Richard Green 46).

Hibaldstow were beaten by Market Rasen 2nds in Division Two. Joe Taylor had the tidy figures of two for 16 as Rasen posted 198 for five, but Hibaldstow were bowled out for 165, despite Nathan Goodall scoring 53.
