NEW BRIGG TOWN CENTRE HOUSING APPROVED

There is strong demand for living accommodation in and near Brigg town centre... and more town housing has now been approved.
North Lincolnshire Council has granted a Brigg Conservation Area application seeking permission to erect two semi-detached dwellings adjacent to 9 Princes Street.
This was described to the council as involving vacant "under utilised" land used for "ad hoc parking."
Approval has been given to construct a pair of two-storey houses - each having three bedrooms.
Information supplied with the application said the design of the new builds would reflect that of properties nearby.
The current use of the land and its condition "means its significance to the conservation area is low," a supporting statement said.
"Consequently, a development of the site has the potential to add to and make a positive contribution to the significance of the conservation area, its setting and its character and appearance."
Brigg Town Council was consulted and told North Lincolnshire Council that while supporting the application, it had some concerns about car parking provision in this part of the town.
A North Lincolnshire Council delegated assessment report said highways staff felt that, due to this site’s town centre location, no car parking was required to serve the dwellings.
Therefore, it was considered that "no objection can be sustained in relation to car parking provision."
In granting planning permission, North Lincolnshire Council has stipulated that work on building the properties on Princes Street must start within the next three years.
