BRIGG PROJECT UNDER WAY - EQUIPMENT BEING INSTALLED

New outdoor gym equipment being installed in Brigg on June 13, 2022

Work is now under way on a welcome project involving two sites in Brigg.
Outdoor gym fitness equipment is being installed on the Millennium Green, off Elwes Street, and the Memorial Garden which is close to the Ancholme Way Bridge and the car park behind the B&M store,
Brigg Town Council is providing the machines, some of which we pictured this morning (Monday, June 13) as work began, with completion scheduled for tomorrow.
Townsfolk and visitors will be free to use them.
We anticipate that many competitors in the weekly Ancholme Valley Way Parkruns (held on Saturday mornings) will be doing so.
The start line for the 5K course is close to the Memorial Garden which faces the Old River Ancholme.
The Millennium Green, too, is bordered by the town's main waterway.
Brigg Blog will post more about the project at a later date once things have been completed.
Pictured here is a close up of an informative sign on a pedal cycle machine.
The maker, Wicksteed, has been proving play equipment for 100 years, it explains.
We think it might have supplied the huge slide which stood on Brigg's Davy Memorial playing field for many decades, including the 1960s and 1970s.
That reference will bring back happy memories for more senior Brigg Blog readers.
