BRIGG EVENTS DAY TWO: THE QUEEN'S PLATINUM JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS FRIDAY, JUNE 3


Celebrations in Brigg to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee will enter their second day on Friday, June 3.
The Black Bull, on Wrawby Street, continues its Jubilee music programme in the pub's rear beer garden with A trip Through the 1970s featuring singer Kara Jowett, 2pm to 4pm. All welcome - free admission.
Brigg Town Football Club, in keeping with its status as a community interest club, is putting on a host of events which locals are welcome to enjoy at the EC Surfacing Stadium near Hawthorn Avenue between 1pm and 5pm on Friday. Admission is free.
There will be a barbecue, music from the Ancholme River Jazz Band with Lulu White, a penalty shoot-out, egg & spoon and three-legged races and a tug-of-war contest.
A range of traditional games and events will be enjoyed throughout the afternoon including apple-bobbing, balloon darts and hook-a-duck.
There will also be a children's colouring competition and face-painting available.
An afternoon street party is being held on Albert Street by local residents - an event supported by a Brigg Town Council grant following a successful application.
Friday night sees Pete Brogan performing at Glanford Boat Club, on Island Carr - a free-to-attend event in the clubhouse at which everyone welcome.
People are asked to arrive between 6.30pm and 8.30pm with car parking available at the riverside venue.
Turn off Bridge Street at the mini-roundabout opposite the Aldi store and continue along Island Carr Road until you see the club sign ahead of you.
Sir John Nelthorpe School is staging a ticket-only Brigg's Got Talent contest from 7pm.
Disco Dave will be providing the Friday night music at the Dying Gladiator, on Bigby Street, until late. All welcome - free admission.
The Woolpack will have an evening karaoke & disco, while the Lord Nelson (also in the Market Place) has booked singer Kit Tinsley to perform hits from the 1960s through to the current era. Free admission applies to both events.
The Jubilee Flower Festival continues today from 9.30am at St John's Ch
urch, Bigby Street/Wrawby Street, as does the Jubilee Exhibition at Brigg Heritage Centre, in the Market Place's Angel building. Admission free.
