BRIGG BLOG'S CRICKET ROUND-UP INCLUDES A FINE CUP-TIE WIN

Teams from Brigg and district had mixed fortunes in the Lincolnshire County Cricket League yesterday (Saturday (June 4).
Brigg Town and Broughton both suffered defeats, but Hibaldstow and Broughton 2nds recorded victories.
Hibaldstow are now through to the semi-finals of one of the league's knockout competitions.
Brigg Town's players were hoping to record their first league victory of the season when hosting Outcasts 2nds at the Recreation Ground.
However, they failed to score sufficient runs to set the visitors from the Isle of Axholme a testing target and were beaten by six wickets.
Despite the season having opened in mid-April, this was Town's first Division Three West home fixture.
Brigg made a decent start and reached 102 for four before a collapse saw them dismissed for 113.
Jack Siddall scored 46 before skying a catch into the covers, while David Baggott hoisted a huge six over long on just prior to being bowled while attempting another maximum. He made 17.
Harry Cadwallder chipped in with 14, including one of the best strokes of the Brigg innings - a straight-driven four.
But the only other double-figure score was 13 from skipper Danny Bradley.
The Outcasts innings began with the loss of both opening batsmen - dismissed by Phil Dewfall.
Siddall and Nick Beacock then managed a wicket apiece, but a good partnership between Russ Fletcher and Jacob Dunstan saw the visitors through to a 20-point victory without further loss, while Town had to be content with a solitary bowling bonus point.
Broughton suffered a heavy Division One defeat in Lincoln against Hartsholme who rattled up a big score - 240 for the loss of only one wicket, claimed by Sean Clixby. Broughton mustered only 75 in reply, skipper Russ Blackburn making 38 in the middle-order.
Broughton 2nds inched to victory by two runs when hosting Scunthorpe Town 3rds in Division Three West.
This close encounter saw all-rounder Paul Clark top score with 55 in Broughton's 181 for eight.
Scunthorpe were then bowled out for 179 with five balls remaining in the 45th and final over of the day.
Matthew Oades was instrumental in running out the visitors' last man after Brett Fish had earlier taken four for 33 and Jack Johnstone three for 30.
Last, but by no means least, Hibaldstow kept their good form going to reach the semi-finals of the Bob Welton Cup.
Due to Jubilee-related use of their ground, Hibaldstow had to switch their quarter-final against Nettleham 2nds to Owmby-by-Spital's Todmoor venue.
Hibaldstow posted a modest 128 for nine which included 58 from Lee Robinson, but then bowled tightly to dismiss their opponents for 102 (Hamza Shahid taking three for 27).
