BRIGG PUBS ROUND-UP INCLUDING PROGRESS PICTURES & THE PITCHERS

Pub beer gardens and outside seating areas in Brigg have now entered their busiest period of the year (May to September).
Popular local band The Dirty Pitchers have been booked to appear at the Black Bull, Wrawby Street, on Saturday, July 2.
The Britpop group will be performing from 8pm in the pub's rear beer garden with its palm trees and continental-style wooden cabanas (pictured here recently).
Admission to this gig will be free - all welcome.
Our archive picture, seen here, is a very early one of The Pitchers, showing them performing in the beer garden of Bridge Street's Yarborough Hunt on Brigg Bike Night in July 2016, when the boys drew a good attendance.

A pop-up pizza service proved popular at the Yarborough last Friday night, with many customers tucking in at their tables.
Such sessions are held from time to time at this real ale hostelry and brewery 'tap' which does not usually feature food.
Many people who have booked tables at the China Royal arrive early and have a drink or two at the Yarborough before crossing the road to eat.

Beer garden provision was included in plans submitted for the new Vault Bar & Kitchen, which involves conversion of the long-empty former HSBC bank. The Vault branding was recently added to windows facing the Market Place (pictured here).
Bridge Street's White Hart, which closed some years ago, once boasted one of Brigg's most popular beer gardens, overlooking the Old River Ancholme.
Work continues to refurbish the premises (some of our latest progress pictures being included at the foot of this post).
The tables and chairs made available to customers at the front of Wrawby Street's White Horse are very popular, as is its rear beer garden.
Major hospitality company J.D. Wetherspoon revamped and reopened this venue seven years ago and the majority of Brigg residents know who owns and operates the pub & restaurant.
However, visitors to the town and those who have come to live here in recent times may not know where to find their most local 'Spoons' outlet.
So we think the black & white prop-up signs on the perimeter of the frontage (pictured here earlier this week) are welcome.
Brigg Blog visited the Britannia Inn's beer garden after attending Brigg Town Council's latest meeting in the Angel.
When we returned to the bar, pint in hand, players involved in a local pool league fixture were tucking into a tasty curry - sandwiches being traditional fare for home and away matches. If there's an end-of-season award for the league's best supper, The Brit must already be a front-runner!
The side beer garden at the Dying Gladiator, Bigby Street, has provided Brigg Blog with many newsworthy items over the years as we chat to various people, as have those to the rear of the Market Place's Woolpack and Lord Nelson.
The new Millfield bar & restaurant at Castlethorpe (housed in the refurbished former Arties Mill premises) stresses it is 'dog friendly' and pledges to ensure that pets taken along by customers are fed treats when they arrive, with water also available to hydrate the hounds.
Millfield occupies a sizeable site - worth considering at this time of year when customers are keen to soak up some sun during visits.
