Cricket lovers living locally will be pleased to learn that one of our area's teams has booked a semi-final spot, Brigg Blog suggests
Broughton 3rds did so by winning at Normanby Park yesterday (Sunday, June 19).
Broughton will now be at home to Luddington Dons on July 24 in the penultimate round of the North Lindsey League's Mick Walker Memorial Trophy... and playing for a place in the final.
Joshua Smith scored 65 not out and Ben Fish 61 not out as Broughton set a tough target of 149 for one against Normanby at Bagmoor Lane yesterday.
The home side were then contained to 98 for eight, with Broughton's Oliver Hayward taking three wickets for seven runs, Andrew Hillyard two for 20 (pictured above) and Jenson Kirk two for 23.
The other semi-final on July 24 will be Messingham v Scunthorpe Development.
Teams have been playing Memorial Trophy games in four groups over recent weeks.
Hibaldstow 2nds were not in North Lindsey League action yesterday.
